A seaside wedding in Piran & Portorož

Piran is a small Venetian-era town on the Adriatic, and neighbouring Portorož is the coast’s most elegant resort. Together they put soft sea light, old stone and olive trees within a few minutes of each other.

We planned the portraits for the last hour of sun, when the breeze off the water lifts the veil and the light turns warm. Later the party took over completely, with friends lifting the groom high above the dance floor.

They walked out of the ceremony between old stone arches with their arms in the air, then we slipped away to the olive trees, where the wind kept lifting the bride’s veil higher and higher. By midnight the friends had lifted the groom above the dance floor and the bride was dancing in a borrowed hat.
