A Scottish beach wedding at Ravensheugh

A DIY wedding, Scottish weather and a fire by the sea

Bride and groom walking through the dunes, veil in the wind

A Scottish couple, a log cabin in the pines and a wedding they made with their own hands: the bride did all the decorating herself. Rain, then sun, then rain again. Perfect Scottish weather, and perfect for photographs.

About Ravensheugh Beach

Ravensheugh Sands is a long, quiet beach on the East Lothian coast, backed by pine woods and dunes, with the Bass Rock sitting out at sea. It’s an unusual and very special place for a wedding. The bride took care of all the decoration herself, from the flowers to the place cards, and every corner of the day felt personal.

Scottish weather changes by the minute: rain, sunshine, rain again, and a dramatic sky over the sea in between. For a photographer that’s a gift, and it’s exactly why these photographs feel so alive. The party was a great one, and the night ended around the fire.

This gallery shows the DIY wedding of a Scottish couple at a log cabin above Ravensheugh Sands near Tyninghame in East Lothian, Scotland, photographed by AlbumWeddings, a destination wedding photographer based in Slovenia. It follows getting ready in the cabin, a clifftop ceremony under a floral arch by the sea, decorations made by the bride, portraits in the dunes with views to the Bass Rock in changing Scottish weather, and an evening of cake, dancing, sparklers and a fire.

Yes. I travel from Slovenia to Scotland for weddings regularly, from Perthshire estates to the beaches of East Lothian. Travel is quoted simply and clearly.

We plan sheltered spots in advance and always have a backup. Wind and changing skies often make the most beautiful and dramatic photographs.

Many coastal venues in Scotland offer outdoor ceremonies near the sea. I’m happy to help you think through timing, light and a wet-weather plan.
