Some weddings are pure joy from the first minute to the last song, and this one was exactly that. Two families from different corners of the world, one old stone bastide in Provence, and more happy tears than I could count: from the bride, from her father, from friends in the front row.

La Bastide des Barattes is a 17th-century bastide in Les Vignères, a few minutes from Cavaillon and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with a century-old plane tree, a lavender field, a pool and about a hectare of park. The couple filled it with tiny details: origami cranes hanging from the trees, red heels on a rush chair, rings in red boxes.
The ceremony moved inside when the clouds rolled in, and honestly it made the day even more intimate. Every face in that room was close enough to see the tears. When a soft rain started in the evening we went out anyway for a few minutes, and those are some of my favourite frames from the whole year.
The moments I remember most are the small ones. The bride’s dad seeing her in her dress for the first time. A friend singing during the ceremony while the bride tried, and failed, not to cry. A little boy in a bow tie beaming through the whole thing. And at the end of the night a cello, a violin, sparklers on the cake and a confetti explosion on the dance floor.
This gallery shows a wedding at La Bastide des Barattes, a Provençal country house near Cavaillon in the Luberon, photographed by AlbumWeddings, a destination wedding photographer based in Slovenia. It follows the whole day: getting ready, an emotional ceremony inside the bastide, portraits in the garden, dinner in the old stone barn with live strings, and a dance floor full of confetti.
Yes. Provence and the south of France are a short flight from Slovenia, and I’m happy to travel for the whole weekend, from welcome drinks to the last dance.
We always plan a covered option together. Old bastides have beautiful window light and stone interiors, and a little rain can make portraits softer and more romantic, as you can see here.
Of course. I love weddings where families and traditions meet. Tell me about the rituals, readings and people that matter most, and I’ll make sure none of them are missed.
