Vila Vipolže stands among the vineyards of Goriška Brda, right by the Italian border, and was carefully restored and reopened in 2015. For this wedding we used every part of it: the light-filled rooms upstairs for getting ready, the lawn under the old trees for the ceremony, and the vaulted wine cellar for dancing.
In Brda the hour before sunset is pure gold. We walked from the villa down a quiet road into the vines and the palm garden, and the hills did the rest. Their dog, wearing a tuxedo bib, was the most popular guest of the day.
It was a day full of hugs. The bride’s mum laughing as she helped her into the dress and then kissing her cheek, her sister holding on tight, a little girl wrapping her arms around the lace skirt, a friend crying happy tears into her shoulder. And their dog in a tuxedo bib, who greeted every single guest.
