A Scottish wedding at The Byre at Inchyra

Kilts, ferns and a stone moon gate

Bride laughing into her hands in her fur stole

Kilts and brogues, ferns on every plate and a bride who couldn’t stop laughing into her fur stole. This Perthshire wedding mixed proper Scottish tradition with soft spring colour, and everyone, absolutely everyone, was smiling.

About The Byre at Inchyra

The Byre sits on the 150-acre Inchyra Estate at Glencarse, between Perth and Dundee and about an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow. A restored farm byre, Inchyra House, walled gardens and old woodland give a mix of rustic and elegant settings, all within one private estate.

The gardens were in full bloom, with rhododendrons everywhere, and the round stone moon gate turned out to be the perfect frame for these two. Inside the Byre, tall candles, ferns and handwritten menus made dinner feel warm and personal.

They signed the register at an old wooden table out on the lawn, with the whole family gathered round and two ponies watching from the field. Later the groomsmen raised a toast in their kilts, the candles came on in the Byre and the evening slowly turned warm and golden.

This gallery shows a wedding at The Byre at Inchyra in Perthshire, Scotland, photographed by AlbumWeddings, a destination wedding photographer based in Slovenia. It includes getting ready, an outdoor ceremony on the lawn under old trees, signing the register outdoors, portraits among rhododendrons and in a round stone moon gate, and a candlelit dinner in the Byre.

Yes. I travel to Scotland for weddings from Slovenia, and travel is quoted simply and clearly.

The light in Scotland changes quickly, which is part of its beauty. I plan sheltered portrait spots with you in advance and work with whatever the sky gives us.

Yes, from kilts and pipers to handfasting and the ceilidh. I’ll ask about your traditions before the day so nothing is missed.
