Villa Rusconi-Clerici stands right on the water in Pallanza, part of Verbania on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, looking towards the Borromean Islands. The palace was designed by the Milanese architect Giovanni Giachi for the Biffi family in the Liberty style with neo-Baroque touches, and after the Second World War it passed to the Rusconi-Clerici family.
Inside there is a green marble staircase and many original furnishings. Outside, the park has camellias, rhododendrons, a winter garden, a limonaia that has kept citrus trees for around two centuries and a landing stage on the lake. Weddings are held in the garden, often as symbolic ceremonies, and an iron pavilion hosts receptions for about 50 to 400 guests.
Photographing your wedding here
A villa you can reach by boat is a gift for a photographer. I love an arrival at the landing stage, portraits under the camellias and on the lake shore at golden hour, and the pavilion glowing at night when the lake turns dark blue behind you.
