Punta San Vigilio is a small promontory on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, just outside the town of Garda. Its 16th-century villa is attributed to the Renaissance architect Michele Sanmicheli and has been a family retreat for centuries; John Singer Sargent and Vivien Leigh were among its guests.
Cypress, olive and lemon trees surround cobbled courtyards, a limonaia, a circular belvedere with busts of emperors and a private harbour. The Locanda San Vigilio has thirteen rooms and suites furnished with family antiques, and the estate hosts intimate weddings.
Photographing your wedding here
Everything here is small, old and beautiful: the harbour, the cypress avenue, the stone belvedere. It is perfect for an intimate wedding, and I would plan portraits for the last light, when the lake goes silver and the cypresses turn into silhouettes.
