Villa di Corliano is one of the most admired Renaissance villas in Tuscany, in San Giuliano Terme between Pisa and Lucca. Part of a 15th-century complex, it belongs to the Pisan noble family Agostini Venerosi della Seta and has a façade decorated with sgraffito in the Florentine Mannerist style.
Around the frescoed villa are a chapel, an old farm, an olive mill, stables, a Kaffeehaus and a large walled park. It is full of stories too, from the ghost of Teresa to Mary Shelley’s visits. Today it offers guided visits and a restaurant, and hosts ceremonies and weddings.
Photographing your wedding here
The painted façade and the walled park give two very different moods. I would start with the grand frontage for family photos, then lose you in the park among the old trees for quiet portraits before dinner.
