Castello di Spessa sits among the vineyards of the Collio at Capriva del Friuli, a short drive from Gorizia and Nova Gorica. The castle you see today was reshaped in neo-Gothic style in the early 20th century over a much older building, and its cellars, dug into the rock, are the oldest part of all. Giacomo Casanova was a guest here in 1773.
For a wedding it has everything in one place: civil ceremonies in the historic halls, in the park or among the vines, Catholic weddings in the private neo-Gothic chapel, dinners in the 19th-century halls or on the terrace above the old park, and 42 rooms plus a wine spa for your guests.
Photographing your wedding here
Vineyards that roll into the fairways of the golf course, a castle with turrets and a centuries-old park: Spessa gives a lot of variety within a few steps. I would plan portraits in the vines at golden hour and a few quiet moments in the chapel and rock cellars.
